Carte-de-visite photograph of John McPherson, Assistant Land Manager at Osborne in 1871. It is a three-quarter length portrait, seated, facing camera, right arm resting on table, left arm resting on left leg. John, his wife and daughter, both called Elizabeth, lived at Arthur Cottage, Whippingham; they were originally from Scotland (possibly Crathie), according to the 1871 census report for Whippingham, Isle of Wight.
