Carte-de-visite half length portrait of Louise, Princess Dowager of Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen, in a vignette format. The subject is shown in three quarter view, facing towards the right of the image with her head turned to face the viewer. She is wearing a white bonnet, trimmed with lace and a black silk gown. She is seated in an upholstered chair, on the arm of which she rests her left hand. In her right hand she is holding the handle of an umbrella.
Louise was one of thirteen children born to Prince Karl Ludwig of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Countess Amalie Henriette of Solms-Baruth. In 1819 she married Adolf Karl Ludwig Friedrich, Prince of Hohenlohe-Ingelfingen and the couple had five children.Provenance
