Carte-de-visite depicting a three-quarters-length portrait of Teresa, Empress of Brazil, seated in left side profile. She has an open book on a table in front of her. Vignette In 1871, The Emperor and Empress of Brazil visited Britain. During their trip, they visited the Crystal Palace, in South London. The building had been moved from Hyde Park to Sydenham following the Great Exhibition of 1851, and was opened in 1854 by Queen Victoria. It survived until 1936, when fire destroyed the building. The firm Negretti and Zambra held the sole rights to all photography at Crystal Palace between 1854 and 1881.
