Carte-de-visite depicting a group portrait of Louise, Queen of Denmark (1817-98) and her children. The Queen is seated in the centre of the photograph, facing three-quarters right. Seated at the front is her son Prince Valdemar of Denmark (1858-1939), who faces the viewer and holds a small dog on his lap. The Grand Duchess Maria Feodorovna, Tsesarevna of Russia (1847-1928) is seated on the left of the photograph, leaning forward and facing the viewer. Seated behind her mother is Princess Thyra of Denmark (1853-1933). Alexandra, Princess of Wales (1844-1925), later Queen Alexandra, stands with her back to the viewer on the right of the photograph. She faces the viewer and rests her left hand on her mother's left shoulder.
