Carte-de-visite depicting a single full-length portrait of Prince Christian Victor. A person on the left of the photograph appears to be holding him and he faces three-quarters left. Vignette. Born at Windsor Castle, Prince Christian Victor was Queen Victoria’s grandson, the eldest son of her daughter Helena. He was known as Christle by his family. Whilst serving in the Boer War he contracted malaria and died of enteric fever in Pretoria in October 1900.
