Carte-de-visite depicting a full-length portrait of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia, the sixth son of the Emperor of Russia. He is sitting in an upholstered armchair with his left leg extended in front of him and his right leg tucked underneath. His body is turning to the left but his head faces three-quarters right. He is holding a ball in his left hand.
This photograph was taken in September or October 1864 during a visit to his uncle Prince Alexander of Hesse at his home in Jugenheim, near Darmstadt.Provenance
