Carte-de-visite depicting a full-length portrait of Tsesarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich. He is sitting next to a table with his left leg tucked underneath his chair. He is turning three-quarters to the right but his head faces the viewer. He is holding a bowler hat in both hands on his lap. There are two books placed on top of the table. A curtain is hanging on the right of the photograph.
This photograph was taken in September or October 1864, during a visit to his uncle Prince Alexander of Hesse in Jugenheim, near Darmstadt. He died the following year in Nice.Provenance
