Photograph showing full length portrait of Robert, the Marquess of Salisbury (1830-1903) with his grandchildren. On his left stands Beatrice (b. 1891) with her arms folded. Seated on the Marquess of Salisbury's lap is the Honourable Robert George (1893-1972). All subjects face the viewer. Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, third Marquess of Salisbury, was at this time Prime Minister. His grandson Robert later became fifth Marquess of Salisbury, and his granddaughter Beatrice was to marry the fourth Baron Harlech, and to be appointed a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth in 1941.
