-
Photograph showing Prince Arthur in fancy costume, looking to the front, with his right hand on his hip and his left hand on his sword. He stands in front of a painted background and between a chair to his right and a table covered in drapery on his left. Prince Arthur (1850-1942), who was appointed a Lieutenant on 3 August 1869, left England for Canada later in the month to join his regiment, the First Battalion of the Rifle Brigade, which was then stationed in Montreal. While stationed there he attended a number of parties, including the Skating Carnival, at which he seems to have appeared as King Charles I.
