Photograph of Alexandra, Princess of Wales (1844-1925), seated, three-quarters right, holding the infant Prince George lying on her lap. The baby wears a very long short-sleeved gown; he is bare-headed. The Princess wears a band in her hair; earrings, necklaces. Prince George (1865-1936), later King George V, was christened at Windsor Castle, on 7 July 1865. This photograph was taken on the following day. According to the Prince of Wales's diary, now in the Royal Archives, the family were photographed in the morning by 'Mr Saunders (1836–1890), the Eton photographer, who took Alix and me & the children in the Conservatory'.
