Gold ring, mounted with an HMR cypher in gold thread, covered by lead glass, flanked on either side by a hardstone set in silver. A 'token' ring, given by Queen Henrietta Maria to those who remained faithful to her.
Provenance
Given to Queen Mary by Miss E.C.Stanistreet in 1925. Miss Stanistreet was a descendant of the niece of William Juxon (1582-1663), Archbishop of Canterbury, who was a firm supporter of Charles I, who had selected Juxon to be with him on the scaffold and to offer him the last rites before his execution. -
