Basket-hilted Backsword (Claidheamh cùil) blade first half seventeenth century; hilt, early nineteenth century

Basket-hilted broadsword. British steel hilt with domed pommel and fluted tang button. Handle covered in fishskin with steel wire and ribbed ferrule. T-shaped quillon. Basket pierced with crosses. Lining of cream cloth with blue and red ricasso double-edged German blade, four fullers.
