Description

Claymore basket-hilted broadsword (Claidheamh mòr). Scottish steel early eighteen-century hilt, domed pommel and four radial flutes. Rear quillon, side guards with horns and two claws. Shields with pierced central merlon. White leather liner, red cloth, blue tape, spiral fishskin grip, plain blade, possibly mid-eighteenth century, with fuller.
