A gilt spelter mantel clock in a drum shaped case mounted into an elaborate plinth case with pink bordered porcelain plaques, mounted on stud feet The original mechanism comprises an eight day locking plate striking clock with a going barrel movement and anchor recoil escapement. The dial also comprises a pink and white plaque with the 12 hours in white ovals and an illustration of putti at play in the centre. Moon shaped blued steel hands.
Phillipe Mourey was a master French sculptor. He was best known for his work combining porcelain plaques and metal mounts and had a close association with Japy Freres & Company, the noted 19th century Paris clock maker. -
