A spherical silver pomander on a low circular foot and with attached chain. The pomander opens into eight segments engraved with foliate motifs, hinged at the base and reveal a central, pierced silver-gilt container.
Provenance
The pomander is said to have belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-87). Presented to Queen Mary in 1951 by Mrs Makgill-Crichton-Maitland and given to her by Ethelred Anne, Lady Hopetoun.
