At the age of 16 - while still at school - Prince Charles undertook his first public engagement in Scotland. He met hundreds of young people at a garden party given for young Scottish and Commonwealth students at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh (The Queen’s official residence in Scotland) and can be seen here greeting a Girl Guide.
