Photograph of a head and shoulder length portrait of Louvima Knollys. She faces left, turning her head halfway towards the camera. She wears her hair pinned up off her neck, pearl earrings, a pearl necklace and a light colour ruffled dress. The photograph has been altered with lead and coloured pencils by the photographer.
The photograph is signed and dated twice by the sitter, and once by the photographer. Louvima was chosen to be a 'pageboy' to Queen Alexandra for the Devonshire House Ball in 1897. Queen Alexandra went as Queen Marguerite de Valois, consort of Henry IV of France. Louvima was the daughter of Sir Francis Knollys, who worked for King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra for over 40 years. Her name was made of the first letters of the royal princesses' names, Louise, Victoria and Maud. -
