Photograph of Frances, Viscountess Jocelyn: full-length portrait, seated to the left, reading a book. There is a large stained-glass bay window and a fluted column on pedestal behind, possibly painted.
Jocelyn was an accomplished photographer and a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Victoria. She was probably taught the wet-collodion process by Lord Dudley de Ros, also a member of the Photographic Society as well as part of the Royal Household. She created albums with many photocollages. One of her brothers sold the Sandringham estate to the Prince Consort as a wedding present to the Prince of Wales in 1862 -
