Photograph showing a close-up view of The Parade Shield, sometimes known as ''Cellini's Shield' The close up depicts one of the four episodes from the life of Julius Caesar. This particular section depicts The Battle of Dyrrachium with Caesar's armour-bearer cutting off the arm of his assailant.
The shield is held by the Royal Collection (RCNI 62978) and is currently on display in the Queen's Guard Chamber, Windsor Castle.Provenance
Commissioned by Henry Cole. Later acquired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
