Photograph of the entrance gate to Deccan College, Poona. The building is in the neo-Gothic style with a cloister supported by columns and pointed arches on both the first and second storey. A number of people are gathered around the entrance, most leaning against or sitting on the walls.
Many colonial buildings were built in Poona, now known as Pune, during British rule. Deccan College was founded in 1821 by Mountstuart Elphinstone, the Lieutenant-Governor of Bombay, and is one of the oldest colleges in India.Provenance
