Photograph of Deccan College, Poona. The neo-Gothic building has a central block with an entrance gate and two towers and there is an additional two storey wing to either side. The building is surrounded by open land. There is a man standing by the entrance and two people are standing on the grass in front of the college with their backs to the camera.
Many colonial buildings were built in Poona, now known as Pune, during British rule. Deccan College was founded in 1821 by Mountstuart Elphinstone, the Lieutenant-Governor of Bombay, and is one of the oldest colleges in India.Provenance
