Photograph of the Jama Masjid mosque in Agra taken from the side. Two of the mosque's onion-shaped domes are visible, both decorated with zigzag lines of different coloured stone. The mosque also has chhatris, elevated dome-shaped pavilions, and two small minarets. In the foreground there is a courtyard where there are several traders with carts.
This is one of a series of photographs of Agra by Dr John Murray which were published in a volume with accompanying captions by J Middleton. Murray was an East India Company doctor who used waxed-paper negatives to produce photographs of the Mughal architecture of Agra and the surrounding area.Provenance
