Photograph of the river front of Agra Fort taken from a raised vantage point. The section of the fort shown has a series of arches and a flat roof. In the foreground there is a courtyard on a lower level which contains piles of wood of different sizes. The Taj Mahal can be seen in the distance to the left beyond the Yamuna River.
This is one of a series of photographs of Agra by Dr John Murray which were published in a volume with accompanying captions by J Middleton. Murray was an East India Company doctor who used waxed-paper negatives to produce photographs of the Mughal architecture of Agra and the surrounding area.Provenance
