The Circular Temple is today known as the Temple of Venus. It is a slightly later addition to the site. Several Roman emperors had structures built at Heliopolis. The Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (r.193-211 AD) was responsible for this small pentagonal temple. The photograph is signed, captioned and dated in the negative, 'F Bedford Baalbec 4 May'. The photograph is number 116 in the Day & Son series.
