The six standing columns are all that remain of the colonnade that ran around the outside of the Temple of Jupiter. The columns are the largest in the world, at a height of 22.9 metres. A legend about the founding of Baalbek stated that a race of giants constructed the buildings. The photograph is signed, captioned and dated in the negative, 'F Bedford Baalbec'. It is number 106 in the Day & Son series.
