Photograph of the entrance to the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. The building has two storeys and a central portico with ten sculptures of men who appear to be supporting the weight of the roof. There are recesses containing statues to either side of the portico. Three boys stand in front of the building to the right. The Hermitage Museum opened to the public in 1852. It originally contained art and antiquities largely collected by Catherine II, Empress of Russia.
