-
Photograph of the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace in St Petersburg. The building is viewed from the side and shows two facades which have central rounded pediments and columns spaced at intervals. At the base of the columns there are sculptures of men, their arms raised to appear as though they are supporting the columns. There is an equestrian sculpture on the corner of the road in front of the palace and a wooden boat can be seen in the river to the right. On the road to the left there is line of horses and carts beside a pile of building materials. The Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace was built in 1747. It was purchased for Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich around the time of his marriage in the early 1880s. Under his ownership the palace was extensively remodelled and was known during the period as the Sergei Palace.
