It is surrounded by trees. The Schloss Kirche was built in the 1850s in the gardens of Schloss Neustrelitz, the principle palace of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The Mecklenburg-Strelitz family had close ties to the British Royal family dating from the marriage of Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz to King George III.
