Photograph of the morning room of Grand Duchess Augusta of Mecklenburg-Strelitz at Schloss Neustrelitz. There is a chaise longue and three armchairs around a small table which is covered by a cloth and holds a pile of letters, books and a small vase of flowers. There are other items of furniture and ornaments around the room including a screen to the right. There are a number of paintings on the wall.
Schloss Neustrelitz was the principal palace of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The palace was destroyed by fire in 1945. The Mecklenburg-Strelitz family had close ties to the British Royal family dating from the marriage of Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz to King George III. -
