Photograph of the library at Schloss Neustrelitz. The walls are lined with bookshelves and there is a fireplace to the right. To the left there is a table containing large books. On top of the table there is a marble statue of a seated man. There are a number of other items of furniture in the room including a leather sofa and two chairs.
Schloss Neustrelitz was the principal palace of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The palace was destroyed by fire in 1945. The Mecklenburg-Strelitz family had close ties to the British Royal family dating from the marriage of Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz to King George III. -
