Photograph of the interior of the orangery in the gardens of Schloss Neustrelitz. There are two arches dividing the room, each with a curtain which is pulled back, and a fireplace with a mirror above between them. There is a square sofa in the middle of the room and a number of chairs at the edges. Large marble statues line the walls and there are chandeliers on the ceiling.
Schloss Neustrelitz was the principal palace of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The palace was destroyed by fire in 1945 but the gardens survived. The Mecklenburg-Strelitz family had close ties to the British Royal family dating from the marriage of Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz to King George III. -
