Photograph of a view of Jones's Battery built on the west face of the Rock of Gibraltar. In the left foreground are the crenelated defensive walls of the battery with the rooftops of domestic buildings beyond. The steeper, rocky escarpments of the rock are in the background.
Jones's Battery was named after Sir John Thomas Jones (1783-1843), an officer within the Royal Engineers who advised on many of the defensive fortifications in Gibraltar.Provenance
