Photograph of the Kashivishveshwara Temple at Lakkundi in Karnataka. This was the most elaborately decorated of the monuments and was dedicated to Siva. The temple has myriad figural reliefs on the walls and ornate doorway carvings.
The town of Lakkundi (ancient Lokigundi) has about fifty temples indicating its status as an important city of the medieval rulers of the Deccan, particularly the Later Chalukyas of Kalyana from the tenth to the twelfth centuries. -
