Photograph of sculptures on the west front of the Great Temple at Hullabeed.
The principal figure in the image is that of Parvati, Hindu goddess and wife of Shiva. Parvati is the goddess of love, fertility, devotion, divine strength and power. She is the gentle and nurturing aspect of the Hindu goddess Shakti. As the mother goddess she has many attributes, each of which is expressed with a different name, giving her over one hundred names in the Hindu dialect. Along with Lakshmi (goddess of wealth and prosperity) and Saraswati (goddess of knowledge and learning), she forms the trinity of Hindu goddesses. -
