Photograph of the ruins of Mellifont Abbey, the first Cistercian monastery founded in Ireland. Standing in the centre of the photograph is a two-storey wall with four arches at the bottom. This wall forms the remains of the lavabo, a once octagonal wash house. The ruined gateway stands in the background on the left of the photograph. Additional ruins stand on the right of the photograph.
