Saint Muirdach's Cross, Monasterboice c. 1903

Photograph of the western face of St Muirdach's Cross in Monasterboice. The large cross is designed with carvings depicting scenes from the Bible. The carving in the centre of the cross depicts the Crucifixion of Jesus. The carvings below the Crucifixion include depictions of doubting Thomas and the arrest of Jesus. Other headstones can be seen surrounding the cross on all sides, with a plain Celtic cross in background on the left of the photograph.
