Photograph of Prince Charles climbing up to an open window at Balmoral Castle. HM The Queen stands in the window and offers a helping hand to the young Prince. After her birth in 1950, Princess Anne became Prince Charles’s principal playmate. This is from a sequence of photographs of Prince Charles playing with his sister and mother at Balmoral in 1952. The Prince climbs up the trellis and in through the window; Prince Charles stands tall on the windowsill; the 2 year old Princess Anne has a little trouble reaching the windowsill; Prince Charles comes to the rescue of his younger sibling. Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands was built by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a family holiday home. It is still used by the Royal Family, particularly during the summer months.
