-
Photograph of the Abbot of Shekar Chote who appears in full length, his lower body obscured by a low desk or altar with a dragon carved into the front panel. The desk stands on a patterned carpet. Behind him stand 3 monks, with the monk on the right holding a small dog. In the background hang ornately patterned tapestries.
During their stay at Shekar Dzong in June, the expedition members visited the monastery Shekar Chode which stands at mid point on the outcrop. In 1921 there were 400 monks living there. This photograph shows the Head Lama of the Monastery, who had lived within Shekar Chode for 66 years.Provenance
