Photograph of members of the crew of HMS Crescent line up on deck to receive their pay, most of them standing behind the table. The photograph comes from an album of fifty prints, showing life on board HMS Crescent during a voyage, under the Duke of York's command, from June to August 1898. Able-bodied seamen, such as the man receiving his money in this photograph, would have earned 1s. 4d. (6.5 p) a day in 1898.
