Photograph of Government House, now the Istana, Singapore. The building is in the neo-Palladian style with a raised central block and a colonnade surrounding the second storey. It is surrounded by parkland.
This is one of a series of views of Singapore in the seventh of nine volumes of photographs collected by the Reverend John Dalton during the 1879-82 world tour of HMS Bacchante. Prince Albert Victor and Prince George, later King George V, served as midshipmen on the voyage, and Dalton accompanied them as their tutor.Provenance
