Photograph of members of the party engaged in various scientific and other tasks. Includes are Leonard Hussey (1891-1964) in the lower right foreground; Reginald James (1891-1964) behind; and on the left planing a piece of wood is Frank Wild (1873-1939), smoking a pipe. During the working day, the crew of the Endurance undertook a variety of activities, including carpentry and scientific experimentation. Three of the men are reading, and Perce Blackborrow (1894-1949), the young Welsh stowaway, can be seen on the left hefting a block of ice to melt for drinking water.
