Bennions flew with 41 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and was seriously injured when his plane was shot down in October 1940. He made a full recovery and returned to flying in a non-combat role. This is one of a series of portraits of the last few surviving aircrew of the Battle of Britain taken by the photographer James Eckersley between 2000 and 2005.Provenance
