10" x 12" glass plate positive showing a full length portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Kent on their wedding day, 29 November 1934 with their parents and youngest bridesmaids. Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-68) is wearing her wedding gown and veil, the Fringe Tiara (1919) and holding a bouquet of lilies. Prince George, Duke of Kent (1902-42) is dressed in military uniform with ropes, sash, and medals (including Royal Victorian Order, Order of the Thistle, Order of the Garter, and Order of St Michael and St George, among others). They are both facing forward holding hands at the centre of the photograph. King George V stands at the far left wearing military dress, ropes, sash and insignia. Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia (Marina's mother), is standing second from left, wearing a light coloured, patterned gown with a sash and hat. Queen Mary is standing second from right, turned three-quarters left wearing an embellished gown, hat, sash, and Order of the Garter. Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (Marina's father) is standing at the far right, turned three-quarters left, wearing military dress, ropes, sash, and insignia. Princess Elizabeth of York is seated on the floor (left) and Lady Iris Mountbatten is seated on the floor (right). They are both wearing their bridesmaids dresses and wreaths. The portrait is set in the Buckingham Palace Throne Room.
