12" x 10" glass plate negative showing a full length portrait of Queen Elizabeth II when Princess Elizabeth of York as a bridesmaid at the wedding of Lady May Cambridge and Captain Henry Abel-Smith on 24 October 1931. She is seated, turned three-quarters right, her head turned face-on. She is wearing her bridesmaid dress (light coloured with puffed, short sleeves) and holding her bouquet in her lap. The portrait is originally set against a neutral background. The back of the plate has been painted red, outlining Princess Elizabeth, creating a bright white, stark background.
