6.4" x 8.4" glass plate negative showing a full length, group portrait of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, when the Duke and Duchess of York, and their parents on their wedding day, 26 April 1923. From left to right: Claude Bowes-Lyon, Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1855-1944), Cecilia Bowes-Lyon, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1862-1938), Queen Elizabeth when the Duchess of York (1900-2002), King George VI when Duke of York (1895-1952), Queen Mary (1867-1953), and King George V (1865-1936). The Earl is turned three-quarters right, wearing a military uniform including epaulets, sash, and medals. Sitting in front of him is the Countess, turned three-quarters right, wearing a dark coloured dress and plumed hat. Elizabeth is standing face-on, wearing her wedding gown and veil. The Duke is standing face-on, wearing a military uniform, ropes, sash, and medals (Victoria Cross, Order of the Garter, Order of the Thistle), his left hand resting on the hilt of his sword. Queen Mary is seated, turned three-quarters left, wearing a beaded gown, sash, and the Order of the Garter. King George V is standing, turned three-quarters left, wearing a military uniform, sash, epaulets, ropes, and medals (Order of the Garter, Order of the Star of India, Order of St. Michael and St. George, Victoria Cross, among others).
