6.4" x 4.7" glass plate negative showing a three-quarter length portrait of Princess Irene of Hesse reading. Her body is facing front and her head is facing down, turned slightly right. She is wearing a light coloured dress with a tri-lapel in varying patterns of black and stripes with a double row of buttons down the bodice. The collar and cuffs are white and ruffled. She is wearing a black headband and a brooch and holding a book in her hands. She is positioned behind a marble ballustrade which the book and a textile of some kind are resting upon. Various flora and fauna is seen in back and foreground. Corresponding gelatin silver print of negative: RCIN 2507619. Same image can be seen on RCINs 2507616 and 2507617.
