The photograph is surrounded by a watercolour illustration by the military artist Orlando Norie showing soldiers of the Grenadier Guards marching through the countryside. Sir Henry Ponsonby was a Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. He later held the position of Keeper of the Privy Purse and was the Private Secretary to Queen Victoria.
