Photograph of the squadron of the 2nd Regiment of Life Guards which served in the Anglo-Egyptian War. There is a large group of men arranged in four rows with two men standing on the window ledges behind. All are wearing military uniform and many are holding swords. The men at either end of the group are holding flags. There is a building behind, partially covered with ivy and with several open windows.
The Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 repressed the nationalist ‘Urabi Revolt and led to increased British control of Egypt.
