Photograph of Umzingati Falls, a waterfall within the Umgeni River. The waterfall descends down a steep cliff into a pool. Open land can be seen beyond the waterfall.
The Umgeni River ran through the Province of Natal, a former British colony in south-eastern Africa. This photograph was taken during the Anglo-Zulu War (1879), which ended the independence of the neighbouring Zulu Kingdom and brought it under British control.Provenance
