Photograph of the view from the lighthouse in Durban. The coastline bends around to the right and is lined with buildings. There are a number of boats in the water and trees in the foreground. Durban was a port in the Colony of Natal, a British colony in south-eastern Africa. This photograph was taken during the Anglo-Zulu War (1879), which ended the independence of the neighbouring Zulu Kingdom and brought it under British control.
